Birth and childhood
On the 1st of January 1994 Annabeth Victoria Woolf was born on the backseat of a taxi in the busy streets of Rome, Italy. Both her parents, Jocelyn and Herman Woolf, were divorce lawyers, so it doesn’ take a lot of effort to guess what happened to the couple and their daughter. When Annabeth was five years old, her mother cheated on her father with one of her clients. They divorced, her mother moved to the States with her new lover and her father took her to London, where she spent her days in a large penthouse being nursed by her au pair. She never saw her mother again. When she was ten, her father sent her to a boarding school in Scotland. Because she had never really played with children of her own age, Anna had barely any idea how to act around so many other kids. She started locking herself up in her room, spending hours on her computer. When she was twelve, she already knew how to break into a password protected computer. It was at that age that her father died in a plane crash over the Atlantic. Seeing her grandparents had been long dead and her mother didn’t want to take her, she was sent to an orphanage in the outskirts of London. She lived there for exactly a week. Then she packed her bags and ran away, starting her life on the streets.
Puberty
Anna quickly adapted to the streetlife, even though she was barely twelve. She spent the days hidden away in alleys and little corners, hacking into WiFi networks nearby so she could use the internet. This she did with the laptop her father had given her a few days before his death. She treasured thing greatly, as it was the only thing of value she possessed. A few weeks after her escape from the orphanage, she met an older homeless woman named Marcy. She decided to take care of the young Anna, teaching her how to survive. Anna began to see Marcy as the mother she’d never had, starting to love the older woman with all her heart. Years passed by and Anna grew up to be a lovely young lady. She became more and more skilled in hacking, quickly earning herself a name as one of the best hackers around.
Through Marcy, Anna met Sherlock Holmes. Marcy had been a part of his Homeless Network for years and now Anna had joined her. When she was sixteen, Sherlock was in need of a good hacker for one of his cases and his gaze fell upon Anna. She helped him solve the case –by hacking into Mycroft’s personal computer-, earning his respect with her unusual skills. That is when the idea rose.
Adolescence and The Irregulars
After Anna’s help, Sherlock developed the idea of gathering a group of young people with unusual skills: The Baker Street Irregulars. Anna was the first member, followed by Nomi Grant. Then the twins came, Joshua and Tobias Masters, Hellen Frank and eventually Fredrick Blake. Together, this strange bunch assisted Holmes in cases for over two years. Sherlock hired the building across from 221B in Baker Street so they could always be close to him whenever he needed it.
Then, Moriarty popped up and everything change. Before she knew it, Anna witnessed Sherlock fall from the roof of Saint Bart’s Hospital. She hasn’t been the same ever since. Because when Sherlock died, she lost more than just an employer. Over the time she got to know the consulting detective, she has fallen in love with him, wisely hiding it from everyone. She keeps hiding it, but it’s obvious the events have scarred her. She pretends to be cheerful and happy, but inside she’s broken. She cries herself to sleep every single night. She has grown to hate Jim Moriarty with her entire heart and will do anything to take him down, to end what Sherlock started. That’s her only goal in life at this moment.
Anna is not someone you want to get in a fight with. If you get on her bad side, she’ll be rude, sarcastic and will swear and curse like there’s no tomorrow. Because of her life on the streets, she knows how to defend her and I can assure you, her punches rarely miss their target.
However, if you’re nice to her, she’ll be nice to you. She can be very polite and kind. Also, she’s a rather cheerful person so expect a lot of smiles. Her background taught her to enjoy every single day, because the next could always be a lot worse. Her great love is her computer, which she cherishes greatly and carries around with her at all times. It’s nearly impossible to hack it, as she developed the security system herself.
If there’s one thing that Anna isn’t, it’s shy. She’s never too afraid to speak her mind, sounding a bit blunt at some times.
Anna has a great admiration for Sherlock Holmes, the consulting detective who got her off the streets and allows her to develop and use her skills. However, this admiration has grown out to a strong love for the man over time. She decides to hide it, as she realizes he will never be able to answer her love. So far, she has succeeded in that. She assists him whenever he needs her too, defending him no matter what, pulling him back with his feet on the ground when it’s needed.
